Who is the Goddess and Why Does She Matter?
Mahatma Gandhi once said: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, and then you win.”
In the world of feminine empowerment, I’ve spent 34 years watching the way mainstream culture interfaces with the understanding of “Goddess.” For those of us who have dedicated ourselves to the Reawakening of the Divine Feminine principle, it is not what we had hoped to see by now.
Yes, the word “Goddess” is bandied about abundantly these days, and we are no longer laughed at for using it, but this is because something more insidious seems to have occurred …
The word Goddess has become synonymous with trivial female activities: Lifestyle, fashion, or that little extra “me time” pampering is often how we see the word Goddess applied in mainstream culture.
Worse still, this has led to a flourishing of goddess “brands” developed by savvy women and based on little more than good photography and strategic social media marketing.
Now, there’s nothing wrong with creating a lifestyle aligned with your dreams. And there’s nothing wrong with valuing good taste or giving yourself “me time.”
The problem is the trivialisation of a FORCE that has the potential for life-affirming change on Earth.
This “trendification” of the Mother of all Life does not benefit women, men, children or Mother Gaia Herself, and here’s why: When we water-down the concept of Goddess into something merely fashionable, then the actual importance of HER becomes meaningless.
This is not the Goddess we will be exploring during our time together.
The Goddess you will dance with at our Retreat is the Life Force Energy which flows through all things. Because from the most ancient times it was SHE who was worshipped as the force of creation. She represents a reverence for LIFE which is missing in our modern world – and most dearly needed.
Thus when WE understand Her at this level, we embrace a role-model for empowered feminine leadership that can not be ignored, laughed at, trivialised or beaten.
